Pupil Information - Buddies

This year we have introduced a ‘buddy system’ in the school yard between year 4 and reception children. The older pupils were keen to help and look after their new friends in the yard at play-time. They helped them to settle in and adjust to their new surroundings.

Here is an account by a year four child.

On the first week of school Miss Dennis asked us to help her children who had only just gone into Reception. I looked after two little girls and took them out to the big yard and showed them where to go and where not to go. I played hopscotch and other games. When the bell rang I took them
back to their class .I really enjoyed this experience.

Our year 4 friends were also ready to act as narrators during our Christmas production. We will continue to form other links as the year progresses. The year 4 children as part of their D.T project will make story-books which will be shared with their buddies in Reception.
